Karearea , Clyde

14-20 Centennial Avenue Alexandra

The Karearea sculpture stands as a sentinel at the entrance to Clyde, symbolising the Central Otago World of Difference brand throughout the district. Notably, the Karearea is a native bird of prey, unlike the non-native harrier hawk. The project was overseen by Historic Clyde and brought to life by the esteemed Glenorchy artist Dan Kelly, who crafted the piece using recycled steel sourced from the fences of original Central Otago stations and farms.
