Rachel Hirabayashi works on the surface of the canvas where she tries to intermesh an idea with a recognizable visual form. Layers of pigment and paint act as a filter for her feelings for a place.
Most images are based on a memory, something that has made an impression, either visually or emotionally.
Sculptures are made of iron, found objects and tin, copper etc are about enjoyment of movement or a visually pleasing form.
