This is a practical six week course designed for those with an interest in designing and creating their own stone sculpture. It is taken over six weeks so that you can develop your skills under the guidance of an experienced sculptor. You will make two pieces, one simple one to learn the skills and then the second using your own design and creating your own challenges under guidance.

Cost:       $140 (includes one piece of stone)**

** The first piece of stone is included in the cost of the workshop. The second piece can be purchased from Andrew at a very reasonable cost (approx $30 - $40).

Please Bring:

Drink bottle, snacks (tea/coffee will be provided)

Wear old comfortable covered shoes, gloves, mask & protective glasses

Learning Outcomes:

• Use the necessary tools for stone carving and understand their uses
• Develop skills when making a simple stone carving
• Design and create your own piece to a finished standard

ABOUT THE TUTOR

Andrew Barr

Andrew has been working with stone for about 5 years now, having re-discovered a passion for stone sculpture whilst travelling in India. On returning to New Zealand, he continued with his passion to create beautiful pieces for people to enjoy. Andrew has a gallery at his home in Roxburgh and is willing to share his inspiration, passion and skill with others to also enjoy.
