Tickets for the VIP Central Otago Art Awards opening are now on sale now from Central Stories Museum, Alexandra and Hullabaloo Art Space, Cromwell. The winners of the $5,000 ‘Central Lakes Trust’ Art Excellence Award and the $2,000 ‘CO News’ Central Otago Artist Award will be announced at the opening by judges, Dunedin Public Art Gallery's Elizabeth Caldwell and Eastern Southland Art Gallery's Jim Geddes. 

Guests get enjoy the beautiful Central Otago wine of Quartz Reef winery and Three Miners vineyard along with delicious local food to nibble on. Central Otago musicians Maria Affleck (violin) and Sharon McLennan (piano) will entertain and there will be a special appearance by local songstress, Libby Hamilton who is said to have the voice of an angel. Those coming will also be treated to the musings of Maniototo poet Brian Turner who will be there to recite some of his own unique poetry

We will be creating an online gallery of the Central Otago Art Awards Exhibition - check out www.centralotagoarts.com/art-awards from 9th September. The public will be able to register and vote for their favourite artwork via the website and these votes, along with the votes from the actual exhibition, will determine the $1000.00 ‘Viewers Choice Award’. Voting closes at 5pm on 26th October and the winner of this prize will be notified on Thursday 27th October.
