Come and enjoy Central Otago’s stunning autumn colours and a glass of Pinot Noir, the region’s internationally acclaimed wine, at its annual Wine and Food Festival. Wines from the world’s most southerly vineyards will again tempt the taste buds at the fourteenth annual Clyde Wine and Food Harvest Festival held in Clyde’s historic precinct.

It is Central Otago’s biggest wine event and attracts several thousand people from local areas as well as other parts of the country and visitors from overseas.

The festival is restricted to vineyards in the Clyde-Earnscleugh-Alexandra basin, 21 wine stalls are selling a range of wines including the internationally recognised Central Otago pinot noir as well as chardonnay, riesling, gewürztraminer, pinot gris, rosé, muscat and cabernet sauvignon.

It is a great opportunity to taste the subtle differences in the various pinot noir wines which vary according to growing conditions that the French call terroir. (No sales of bottles for consumption DURING the festival are allowed, but people can buy wine to take home).

Music and entertainers all day:

10.45 am – noon   : Les Richardson and his Jazzmen
12.15pm – 1.30pm : The Valley Bluegrass Band
1.45pm – 3.00pm   : Andrea Cruickshank with Les and his Jazzmen
3.15pm – 4.30pm   : Sea Beast

An information pamphlet which includes details about the vineyards at the festival and a map showing where to find them will be available at the entry gates.

A shuttle bus between Clyde and Alexandra leaves from the Alexandra Visitor’s Centre at noon, 1pm and 2pm and costs $5 one way. The last bus leaves Clyde about 5pm.

Entry to the festival is $20 with festival glass, $15 without. If you don’t have a current festival glass you will not be able to buy wine. Entry for high school pupils is $10 and children aged 12 and under, are free.

The festival is organised by Promote Dunstan, a non-profit making incorporated society.

Money raised at the Festival is donated to community groups and used by Promote Dunstan to stage other community events.

Cash and Carry Art Exhibition
Every year, from Easter Friday through to Easter Sunday the Central Otago Art Society holds its Cash and Carry Art Exhibition in the historic Masonic Lodge. Admission is free. This is a great opportunity to buy local art and take it home with you.
