  • Golden Gate - Forbidden Fruit

Forbidden Fruit is a three piece Dunedin Band who specialise in private, commercial and corporate entertainment. They have been together for some years now, but their musical association with each other in different genres goes back well over two decades. Their musical, vocal and theatrical expertise combine to give a unique touch of class to any occasion, and have a repertoire that is vast.

Andy Gilmour: Guitars & Vocals Professional musician since the age of 18, Andy has performed in nearly every capacity imaginable from hard rock touring bands in the 80’s to musical directing in theatres and record producing in the 90’s as well as tutoring music (in 8 different instruments) solo performing and recording session musician and singer. A member of the X-Set Cabaret Show for 10 years as well as numerous television appearances, including performing Meatloaf on TVNZ’s 1st series of “Stars in their Eyes”, Andy has appeared on a regular basis with such artists as Patsy Riggar, Johnny Devlin, Howard Morrison, Ray Woolfe, Suzanne Lynch, Tom Sharplin and Brendan Dugan to name but a few. Overall winner of the 40+ 2009 Gold Guitar Awards and “Best Bass Guitarist” recipient in the 1991 Entertainer of the Year Awards. Currently Owner / Operator of “Andy Gilmour School of Music” and “Boot Hill Production Company”.

Catherine Short: Vocals & Percussion Professional musician and music tutor since leaving university. A professionally trained singer, as well as piano and keyboards, Catherine has also been a very prominent figure in the operatic and theatrical world, having done several lead roles and countless supporting roles in many notable productions. Currently a vocal tutor at the Dunedin University, Cath was also a member of the X-Set Cabaret Show for many years, and performed as “Lulu” on TVNZ’s “Stars in their Eyes”. Catherine has appeared on stage with such performers as Michael Barrymore, Howard Morrison, Jimmy Barnes, Suzanne Prentice and Eddy Low amongst others, and is in regular demand as a recording session backing vocalist. Owner / Operator of “Studio A Music Tuition”, Catherine has trained several overall winners at the New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards as well as winning numerous sections herself.

Peter Kesha: Keyboards & Vocals A professional musician from a very early age, Peter’s talent and expertise as a musician and musical director are recognised globally. From his early days of performing and touring throughout the USA (whilst still only a teenager) Peter spent the next two decades working between Australia, New Zealand and Europe in every scenario imaginable. One time musical director of 70’s sensations “The Drifters”, Peter’s talents were soon spotted, and soon after he was recruited as orchestra director on luxury cruise liners, working around the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Hawaii. Widely renowned for his outstanding musical abilities, Peter has performed and trained internationally with some of the biggest names in the industry, and is in huge demand as a musical director and arranger. Owner / Operator of “P.K School of Music”, Peter is currently tutoring in four instruments in and around Dunedin and working as a session pianist and keyboardist.
