The Duo's latest review written by Maegan Johnsen from Wanaka's On magazine:

You know a songwriter has hit the nail on the head when their music sounds familiar, even when you have never heard it before.

Jo Little and Jared Smith are an unexpected combination. Their contrasting voices remind me of flavours that should not work together but do, in the most delicious of ways. Like apples and sharp cheddar cheese. Jo’s sultry voice wraps me up in a warm aural blanket of smoke and soul as Jared’s transports me to a hippie-strewn paddock at Woodstock. I can almost feel the daisies wreathing my head as I sit by the fire at The Creek on Dunmore Street and soak it all in.

They are a truly authentic collaboration and I find myself waiting with anticipation for their next original song. Although their covers are beautifully reworked and they do the likes of Neil Young and Elton John proud, I am a glutton for home spun material, hungry to hear more from the pair.

Tonight I don’t have to wait long! Their own songs are plentiful. The beautiful ‘Til’ The Blue Skies Come’ proves a treat, laden with rich harmonies. The duo serves it up with a side of slide guitar on ‘Young Man, Old Man’, as some tequila-drinking youngsters next to me accompany them with enthusiastic foot stomping and table pounding.

Jo and Jared have succeeded in filling my tank. I leave the venue with a new feeling that world peace might in fact be possible if harmonies like that can exist between two people who sound so different, yet are so connected.

If you have the chance to catch these two quasi-gypsies as they play their way around our country crooning for kai and sharing their gift, don’t think twice. They are truly marvellous!
