During May, our guest artist will be Jill Brandon. Jill has had a long career as a Visual Art Educator and Landscape Painter, an Art Teacher and Art Advisor in Secondary Schools for 30+ years and latterly Head of Art at Massey University engaging in Visual Art Research.
Her plein aire oil paintings of Central Otago interact with the viewer to provide something about the spirit of the a vanished Central Otago - the lifestyles, dreams and aspirations. They narrate the stories and histories of past toils, agricultural practices and mining activities, to give us a sense of the abilities or our forefathers who were able to withstand hardship, were determined and adaptable under hardship.
The bannockburn cafe and store is open 9am to 5pm daily
