Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery is delighted to host ‘Focal Point – Celebrating 150years of the Otago Daily times’. Created by the Otago Museum, this exhibition features photographs and front pages of the Otago Daily Times during the past 150 years. Remember when the Beatles came to NZ in 1964? The 1979 Abbotsford slip? Lady Diana’svisit in 1983? Or how about a bit closer to home – the Hyde Rail disaster, the Queen Mother fishing in Lake Wanaka, or the Clutha River before the Clyde Dam? Come andreminisce about significant events and changing times or simply to experience the professional photography of the ODT staff. Also on show will be the front page of the very first Otago Daily Times newspaper.“150 years is a very significant achievement for any organisation” says Clare Wilson, Director – Experience and Development at Otago Museum. “The Otago Daily Times is an important part of how Otago sees itself. This exhibition offers the community an opportunity to reflect on their contribution to date.” “Central Stories values the regular support and networking provided by the Otag oMuseum” says Shani Redmile, Operations Manager at Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery. “This is a wonderful opportunity to be able to bring an exhibition of this calibre to our community. We have carefully selected photographs that relate to Central Otago as well as some great shots of events of national significance.”
