Good as Gold

Hullabaloo artists will explore gold and its impact on Central Otago as part of the 150th anniversary of the discovery of gold in the region.

 "This anniversary provides the opportunity for a group show that engages with our physical location in an historic building, the region's history, and the more general concept of 'gold'. Some of us at Hullabaloo are already fairly directly engaged with these themes, but for everyone it will be an opportunity to explore some new ideas," says Hullabaloo founder and multi-media artist Odelle Morshuis.

"An installation made from bars of sunlight soap will be part of the exhibition, along with painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. It's always interesting to see the diversity of works produced when you give a group of artists a theme like this which is open to a wide interpretation."

Good as Gold has been kindly sponsored by the Central Lakes Trust. The opening will be on July 14, from 5pm to 7.30pm.
